There are occasions when it feels like a team have done everything they can to lose a game - this was one of those occasions for GHA.

GHA did not win a single line out on their own ball in the second half yet despite this, they dominated territorially and created numerous scoring opportunites. None were taken.

The first half ended with GHA 11-8 ahead following two penalties from stand off Tane Jericevich and a try from right wing Rangi Jericevich who chased down a neat grubber kick from Ross McClymont. Dumfries' right wing also scored a well finished effort in the GHA corner to add to an earlier penalty. During the first period, full back McClymont also spent 10 minutes in the sin bin.

Dumfries were gifted a score early in the second half when McClymont misjudged a kick through and it bounced off his chest into the arms of the onrushing Dumfries defender who went over for an easy score.

And that was that as far as the scoring was concerned and also, unfortunately, for GHA's cup run this season.

GHA now have 3 weeks off before returning to action at home to Greenock Wanderers on Saturday the 14th January. Kick Off 2pm.

GHA captain Andrew Henderson looks set to miss Saturday's cup clash at home to Dumfries after picking up a red card during last weeks defeat to Lasswade. Donald Malcolm is also out after fracturing his thumb during the same game, as is Jamie Pinder who is carrying a hand injury.

In gale force winds and bitterly cold conditions, this game was always going to go to the team that dealt with the conditions better and so it proved.

GHA scored two first half tries, a forwards effort from Jamie Pinder and a length of the the field try from the backs which Tane Jericevich finished off. Lasswade score 2 tries from their forwards.

In the second period, Lasswade dominated posession and scored two furrther tries up front as well as two penalties to just one try for GHA's skipper Andrew Henderson.

Next week GHA are due to welcome Dumfries to Braidholm in the Scottish Cup. KO 130pm.
