Rugby Sevens returns to Braidholm for the first time in a decade, and it’s coming back in style!
Introducing the G&T 7s: a brand‑new Men’s and Women’s Rugby Sevens tournament combining fun and competition with a full‑scale summer festival atmosphere.
Hosted jointly by GHA Rugby Club and University of Strathclyde Rugby – known as the “Tech” – the G&T 7s takes place on Saturday 6 June 2026, for a day of fast‑paced action on and off the pitch.
Play gets underway at 10:00am, with bars open from 11:00am-7:00pm, ensuring spectators are well fuelled throughout the day. An after‑party will follow in the evening, with details to be announced.
The Tech are one of the true powerhouses of BUCS rugby, having recently reclaimed the historic Varsity Trophy at Scotstoun. With strong links to GHA, home to many past and present GHA 1XV players, they are the perfect partners to help launch a Sevens event that blends competition, community and celebration.
Braidholm, the home of GHA Rugby Club and the iconic Giffnock Beer Festival, provides the ideal summer setting. Expect a festival feel with a GHA x Jubel Beer Tent, GHA Gin Bar, and a selection of street food stalls, creating the perfect backdrop for a full day of rugby entertainment.
The tournament will feature men’s and women’s club, university, social and invitational teams, all competing to be crowned the inaugural G&T 7s Champions.
