Minis Rugby: U11 & U12 Tournament – Welcoming the Worldwide Rugby Family!
Join us this weekend for an international celebration of youth rugby as GHA Minis proudly host our annual U11 and U12 Mini Rugby Tournament! This exciting event, which has grown from a fixture established in 2022, when GHA first met our great friends from Haagsche RFC (The Netherlands) at a tournament in London, perfectly embodies the spirit of the worldwide rugby family.
Tournament Details and Teams
The tournament features two GHA squads in each age group competing against a fantastic line-up of visiting teams: Haagsche RFC, Biggar, Bishopton, Haddington, and Musselburgh. With approximately 250 young players taking to the pitch, you’re guaranteed a full day of action!
- P7/U12 competition will feature two groups of four or five teams, with exciting finals where 1st plays 1st and 2nd plays 2nd.
- P6/U11 teams will enjoy a fun and energetic round-robin format.
Remember, this weekend is about having a great time, learning team-building skills, and promoting superb sportsmanship—not about winning! The kids will have heaps of fun as they forge new friendships.
More Than a Tournament: Weekend Highlights
The spirit of friendship extends off the pitch! Our visitors from The Netherlands will be getting a full taste of Scottish rugby and hospitality:
- Saturday Support: As they travel up from Newcastle, the Haagsche team will be stopping in to cheer on GHA’s 1XV and 2XV at their away fixtures against Currie Chieftains.
- Camp Out: The Dutch team will be having a true adventure with a camp out at Clarkston Scout Hall on Saturday night.
We must also give a massive shout-out to Wendy McLain, our amazing Mini’s Co-ordinator, for all her hard work in pulling this fantastic international event together!
