Women’s rugby made a welcome return to Braidholm during the festive period as the club hosted the Floozy Babas Festive 15’s, welcoming Cartha for a friendly fixture.
The match marked the inaugural 15-a-side game for the Floozy Babas, the only travelling social women’s rugby team in Scotland. Known for its inclusive, fun-first ethos and operating in a non-invitational style, the team brings together players from over 30 clubs across Scotland, offering women of varying backgrounds and experience the opportunity to play rugby in a supportive and welcoming environment.
The match was played in a festive atmosphere at GHA, with the fixture celebrating not only the return of women’s rugby to the club but also the growing community around the women’s game. During the match the Floozy Babas emphasis on enjoyment, participation and positive energy was on full display. The camaraderie continued in the clubhouse as the two teams gathered to raise money for the Floozy Babas chosen charity, Scottish Women’s Aid.
With the return of women’s rugby to GHA now underway, the club looks forward to building on this momentum.
