Please read the recent announcement from East Renfrewshire Councill and Police Scotland regarding the plans for Muirend Playing Field and the temporary road closure of Braidholm Road on Wednesday 5th November surrounding the fireworks display event:
Braidholm Road (in Giffnock) will be closed between the junctions of Merryton Avenue and Merryvale Avenue from 18.15-20.30.
There will be no access in /out the carparks at the GHA Rugby Club and Nuffield Health between 18.15-20.30 due to these road closures. Nuffield members will be contacted directly regarding access to facilities.
There will be no access to Muirend park, playing fields and carpark during the GHA Rugby Club fireworks display Wednesday 5th November.
The club is working with Police Scotland, East Renfrewshire Council and other partners over public safety, and temporary fencing will be put up at the Muirend pavilion car park and at the pedestrian access at Whitton Drive, as was the case last year.
The fencing will run from the Hazelden Park boundary wall along the pavement to the pavilion car park entrance off Hazelden Gardens and continue on the other side of the car park entrance to GHA rugby’s boundary fence.
The pavilion car park will be closed but the pedestrian lane from Hazelden Gardens to Braidholm Road will remain open. There will also be fencing erected during the same period to restrict access to the playing fields from the lane at Whitton Drive.
These plans have been drawn up by the Council following discussions with a number of partners, including Police Scotland, and are to be replicated at this year’s display.
We would urge people to be aware of the closure of at Muirend playing fields and not to attend the area. Police will have a presence in the area on the night to ensure the event runs safely and securely.
