GHA Rugby Football Club is continuing its commitment to growing the girls’ game with the launch of its new female only event, Gals All In, alongside free places for girls new to rugby at its upcoming Summer Camps in July and August.

These initiatives are designed to make rugby more accessible to girls from all backgrounds by removing barriers to entry and creating a supportive environment for those who would like to try the sport for the first time. With recent record breaking attendances at Glasgow Warriors and at Murrayfield Stadium for women’s matches, GHA hopes that inspiration from the professional and international game, combined with accessible opportunities at grassroots level will ensure this recent surge in support is translated into lasting participation.

Gals All In is a free event being held at the club’s Braidholm ground on 31 May, and it is hoped it will bring together girls from across the local East Renfrewshire and Glasgow Southside community for a fun and energetic rugby experience that encourages participation, teamwork and the beginnings of new friendships. GHA’s Summer Camps, led by SRU accredited coaches, will give girls new to the sport the opportunity to learn core rugby skills and build confidence in a supportive setting. The free girls’ places are aimed specifically at encouraging beginners to take their first steps into the game.

GHA coach Lara Bardelli commented

“As a growing community club, GHA needs to be open to everyone, and that includes creating more opportunities for girls and women to be involved. By launching this Gals All In event, and offering free summer camp places for girls new to the sport, we want to give more young female players the chance to experience how positive and empowering women’s rugby is.”

Girls interested in taking part, whether they are complete beginners or simply curious to give rugby a try, are encouraged to come along, get involved and discover everything the game has to offer.
