A fundraising Golden Oldies charity match is being held on the evening of Friday 9 May to raise funds for The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice.
We are looking to get together a pool of about 30 players to play against a Cartha Queens Park select.
This will be a low-key, fun match for rugby lovers who have been involved with the game for each of the past five decades. (This means they need to have started playing rugby in 1979 or earlier.) Some current players may actually have played in each of the past five decades, but anyone who has continued to have an active interest is eligible. Even if you havent played for a while, but would like to make a cameo appearance, you will be welcome to take part.
Andy Wilson is taking names from CQP members. Eddie Crozier has kindly agreed to referee the match in his own inimitable way!
The match is being organised to raise funds for the Hospice on behalf of CQP past-president Alan Irons and his family, which was responsible for the care of his wife Mairi, who was diagnosed with cancer in October 2012, and who died in September last year.
The game will be followed by an informal dinner, chaired by Brian Donald. Hopefully we will have some prizes to auction and raffle.
There will be a charge of £25 to cover the cost of the dinner and a donation to the Hospice.
Funds raised will contribute to the Brick by Brick Appeal to build a new hospice just along the road from CQP in Bellahouston Park.
If you are interested in playing in the game, coming along for the dinner or just coming to watch then please let me know or email [email protected] for an application form.
