Sunday 10TH September 2017 turned out to be a significant day for Graeme Thomson, as he presided over his final outing as Captain of the Braidholm Golfing Society at the end of his two-year term of office. With a field of 14 competitors (including some new society members), the day started well with the four groups teeing off from 1.00pm, having had the traditional pre-match nourishment of bacon or sausage rolls and tea or coffee.
The weather forecast was living up to expectation with short light showers, however the golf started well. The superb course offered some interesting challenges for even our lowest handicappers and was in excellent condition. The field had been advised to note some additional scores which involved sand and water, thus enabling some extra prizes which had been donated! With some bright sunshine now appearing the day was going well!
Sadly after the turn, the weather took on a different look, with the short light showers becoming long heavy ones, waterproofs were on for the duration at this point.
At the end of the competition and with all the scores in, we dined on a fine two course meal and conducted the prize giving.
The additional prizes were won (or possibly lost??) by Iain MacGillivray (sand) and Ian Robin (water).
Graeme then thanked all those who took part in the final outing of the year, Tulliallan Golf Club and the catering staff of The Puttery at the golf club for hosting us and looking after us so well and our Secretary Alan Thomson for his organisation of the events throughout the year. He then concluded by handing over the metaphorical baton of the Captaincy to Zander McIlwham.
The final outing of the season was a fitting end with good food, a good course with super facilities and excellent company. Thanks to all who came for making it a good day.
