GHA Rugby Club is delighted to celebrate the signing of grassroots GHA player Johnny Ventisei by Glasgow Warriors – a professional contract for the 2026/27 season, hot on the heels of his professional debut at outside centre in Saturday’s match against Leinster, a 38-17 victory to the Warriors in front of a home crowd at Scotstoun.

Speaking to Glasgow Warriors (glasgowwarriors.org), Johnny said:

“To be able to sign my first pro contract with my boyhood club is beyond special – it’s a real dream come true.”

20 year old Johnny has come through the GHA youth academy, playing for both the Minis and Midis from P1 before getting his GHA 1XV senior debut in October 2022 in a cracking home win against Musselburgh. He subsequently joined the Warriors Academy two years ago.

In 2023 Johnny was a medallist at the 2023 Youth Commonwealth Games, earning gold in the Rugby 7s for Scotland alongside fellow GHA player Robbie Baird and served as captain of Scotland U20 throughout 2025, leading the men in blue during both the U20 Six Nations and World Rugby U20 Championship.

Johnny returned to GHA colours this season, joining the 1XV in their Premiership campaign as part of the Glasgow Warriors Academy.

Club President, Gordon Adams, celebrated:

“On behalf of all at GHA, many congratulations to Johnny Ventisei on signing his first professional contract with Glasgow Warriors. It is richly deserved and testament to Johnny’s skill, work ethic, and drive to be the best player he can be. I remember his first senior training session and instantly thought GHA had a talent on their hands. Such ability was to the forefront of Glasgow Warriors victory on Saturday. While St Aloysius College also helped develop Johnny, for GHA it’s brilliant to see one of our product’s thrive on a stage many dream of reaching; but fewer reach. Hopefully GHA youth players see Johnny’s progress as inspiration to reach similar highs.”

GHA is hugely proud to have played a part in Johnny’s career, and it’s an inspiration to all our players in the younger teams.

Many congratulations Johnny and we’re cheering you on!
