
Job Description: Volunteer Rugby Team Manager – GHA RFC
Location: Braidholm, Glasgow, Scotland
Position: Volunteer Team Manager
Reports to: Head Coach and Rugby Committee
Commitment: Part-time, voluntary role (match days, training sessions, and administrative duties as required)
Overview
GHA RFC, a proud member of the Scottish Rugby Union Premiership, is seeking a dedicated and organised Volunteer Team Manager to support the senior men’s squads. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of the team, both on and off the pitch, contributing to the club’s success and fostering a positive environment for players, coaches, and supporters.
Key Responsibilities
Team Coordination – Act as the primary point of contact between players, coaching staff, and the club committee. Communicate match schedules, training times, and other key information to the squad.
Match Day Management – Organise logistics for home and away matches, including travel arrangements, kit preparation, and liaising with match officials and opposition teams.
Ensure compliance with Scottish Rugby Union regulations.
Player Welfare – Support player welfare by coordinating medical support (e.g., physio arrangements), managing player registrations, and ensuring availability of necessary equipment (e.g., water bottles, medical kits).
Administrative Duties – Maintain accurate records of player availability, injuries, and match reports. Assist with squad selection processes in collaboration with the coaching staff. Ensuring SCRUMs system is fully updated.
Liaison with SRU – Ensure all team-related paperwork, including player registrations and match documentation, is completed and submitted in line with Scottish Rugby Union requirements.
Event Support – Assist with organising club events, such as post-match hospitality, team meetings, or fundraising activities, to enhance team spirit and club engagement.
Kit and Equipment Management – Oversee the preparation, maintenance, and distribution of team kit and equipment, ensuring everything is ready for training and match days.
Communication – Promote a positive team culture by fostering clear communication between players, coaches, and volunteers. Support the club’s social media team by providing updates on team activities when required.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
– Strong organisational and time-management skills.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
– Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks, particularly on match days.
– Passion for rugby and a commitment to the values of GHA RFC.
– Reliable, proactive, and able to work collaboratively with players, coaches, and volunteers.
– Desirable:
– Previous experience in sports team management or administration.
– Knowledge of Scottish Rugby Union regulations and the Premiership structure.
– Basic IT skills for managing spreadsheets, emails, and online systems.
– First aid training or willingness to undertake it.
Commitment:
– Attend senior team training sessions (typically 2 evenings per week) and matches (Saturdays).
– Availability for occasional club meetings and events.
– Flexible hours for administrative tasks, which can be done remotely where appropriate.
