Last-gasp merchants Melrose were true to form at Braidholm, where Geoff Caldwell’s stoppage-time try earned a dramatic triumph over luckless GHA. Caldwell’s moment of glory came in the 84th minute, leaving the home troops in despair.
Alec Clark and Calum MacRae had earlier broken through for the Borderers, with Scott Ruthven landing two conversions and four penalties. Lock James Eddie had two touchdowns for GHA, with James Noonan converting one and adding four penalties
