Coaching Opportunities for Everyone — Minis to Seniors

There are opportunities to get involved every day of the week, at every level:

1. Minis (P1–P7): Fun-first rugby, teaching core skills and confidence.
2. Youth (U13–U18): Player development, game understanding, teamwork, and personal growth.
3. Seniors: Support coaching pathways, skills sessions, video analysis, strength & conditioning, and more.
4. Recreational & social rugby: Opportunities with our veterans team, the Gazelles, and wider club community. 

Whether you’ve coached, managed, refereed, been a kit man for years or have never picked up a whistle, we’ll help you learn, grow, and enjoy the experience.

Areas You Can Get Involved With

There is a role for every passion and every personality. Our volunteer areas include:

1. Coaching & Rugby Operations Coaching (Minis, youth, seniors), team management and admin, referee youth games, video analysis, statistics and performance, strength & conditioning support, fixture coordination, kit and equipment.
2. Matchday & Events Matchday hosting, ticketing and supporter welcome, half-time activities, photography and social content, announcements and communications, event planning and delivery — including Fireworks Night, Beer Festival, Snowball, Camps, and Youth matchday management.
3. Marketing, Media & Content Social media, graphic design, photography, videography, copywriting, website updates, email marketing, podcast and video production, sponsorship activation.
4. Commercial & Sponsorship Sponsorship outreach, business networking, partner relationship support, hospitality, LinkedIn and B2B marketing, research and lead generation.
5. Finance & Administration Administrative support, spreadsheet and reporting, data entry, membership administration, invoice and payment tracking, process documentation.
6. Facilities, House & Grounds Grounds support, painting and maintenance, matchday set-up, clubhouse improvement, DIY and repair, gardening and outdoor maintenance.
7. Youth Rugby & Talent Pathway Coaching support, mentoring, player wellbeing, development programme support, youth tours — including major trips such as P7 tours abroad.
8. Board & Governance Support Project coordination, meeting administration, research support, policy drafting, volunteer coordination, data and reporting.
9. Community & Membership Member engagement, welcome and onboarding, community outreach, membership drives, parent communications, survey and feedback coordination.
10. Student & Work Experience Practical, meaningful placements across marketing, events, rugby operations, commercial activity, content creation and project coordination.
11. Kitchen & Catering Supporting the kitchen team and helping feed the masses on matchdays — a vital and very much appreciated role.
12. Committee Roles Mini & Youth Convenors, Draws & Results coordination, and wider committee membership.

Volunteer FAQs

Do I need rugby experience? No. Many volunteer roles require no rugby experience at all.

How much time do I need to commit? It depends entirely on the role. Some volunteers help weekly; others support specific projects or events. We work around you.

Can students volunteer? Absolutely. GHA offers excellent opportunities for students and people looking to gain genuine work experience, build portfolios and develop references.

Are volunteer roles paid? No. These are voluntary positions.

Can I volunteer if I work full-time? Yes. Many of our volunteers support the club around work and family commitments. Flexibility is built into how we operate.

What types of skills are useful? We welcome a wide range of skills including marketing, finance, operations, administration, events, coaching, photography, design, sponsorship, project management and communications — among many others.

Can parents get involved? Yes, and they do in large numbers. Parents are a vital part of the GHA community.

Will I receive support? Yes. Every volunteer will receive guidance, support and direction appropriate to their role, along with a named contact within their area.
