GHA is currently inviting expressions of interest to its board. find out more here.

It takes a community. It takes GHA. It takes you.

Volunteering is at the heart of what we do here at GHA. There is an opportunity for everyone, whether you are a lifelong sports fan, have existing skills that you wish to bring to a community club, wish to learn some new skills, or you are simply looking for an opportunity to meet new people and be part of the local community. We have a diverse range of volunteers; from those who maintain our plants and pitches at Braidholm, people who welcome our supporters on game day, organise tickets and programmes, our volunteers in marketing, commercial, finance, coaching and our facilities teams… there is a role for everyone. There is a role for you.

A Rugby Club Built on Volunteers

Every part of GHA runs because volunteers make it happen.

  1. The entire club including the Board, is volunteer‑led.
  2. Our marketing and communications are delivered by a volunteer team, including students and early‑career professionals gaining hands‑on experience while helping the club grow.
  3. Volunteers support matchdays, run events, manage facilities, maintain green spaces, coordinate sponsors, welcome visitors, and help deliver the Club’s biggest community occasions.

GHA is one of Scotland’s leading community rugby clubs, recognised for both competitive success and community impact. We compete in Scotland’s top tier and produce players who progress to Glasgow Warriors and Scotland’s regional and youth programmes.

The Beating Heart: 70+ Volunteer Coaches Every Week

If you want to see volunteering at its best, visit Braidholm on a Sunday morning.

GHA’s youth and junior section has exploded in recent years, now including around 440 young players supported by an incredible team of more than 70 volunteer coaches.

That means every weekend — rain, shine, or sideways Glasgow hail — volunteers are running high‑quality rugby experiences for hundreds of children who love the sport. On an average Sunday, that’s roughly:

70+ coaches

400+ players, from Minis to U18s

Pitches full of activity, teamwork, laughter, and learning

It’s one of the most vibrant youth rugby environments in Scotland — and it exists because volunteers choose to give their time.

Coaching Opportunities for Everyone — Minis to Seniors

There are opportunities to get involved every day of the week, at every level:

  1. Minis (P1–P7): Fun-first rugby, teaching core skills and confidence.
  2. Youth (U13–U18): Player development, game understanding, teamwork, and personal growth.
  3. Seniors: Support coaching pathways, skills sessions, video analysis, strength & conditioning, and more.
  4. Recreational & social rugby: Opportunities with our veterans team, the Gazelles, and wider club community.

Whether you’ve coached, managed, refereed, been a kit man for years or have never picked up a whistle, we’ll help you learn, grow, and enjoy the experience.

Why Volunteer With GHA?

  1. It’s fun – genuinely!

Our pitches, clubhouse, and events are buzzing. There’s real joy in being part of something bigger — the banter, the friendships, the kids’ excitement, the matchday energy, and the sense of achievement when a session goes well.

2. You give back — and it shows.

Your impact is immediate. More players, more opportunities, more memories made. Volunteers are the reason GHA thrives.

3. You learn new skills.

From coaching qualifications to digital media, event management, fundraising, governance, marketing, and beyond — volunteers develop real-world experience.

4. You join a community that values you.

Volunteers receive ongoing support, training, and recognition. And at GHA, you’ll feel part of something welcoming, ambitious, and genuinely special.
