The SRU have released their provisional fixture list for the long awaited 2021/2022 Tennent’s Premiership season, currently due to begin on Saturday 4th September 2021.
GHA, heading into their 20th season are set to start their 5th Premiership campaign away to Musselburgh RFC, before welcoming Hawick to Braidholm a week later. The first Glasgow derby against Hawks is pencilled in to take place at Braidholm on Saturday 16th October, with GHA looking to recreate the joyous scenes of 2019/20.
The 2nd XV will be looking to continue their impressive unbeaten form that saw them finish with a 100% record in 2019/20. The 3rd XV will be looking to maintain their status as one of Scotland’s premier 3rd XV’s, regularly upsetting much more fancied 2nd XV’s.
As a precaution it has has been agreed that 65% of fixtures must be completed for promotion and relegation to take place. The league programme will be prioritised meaning that cup competition details and fixtures will not be confirmed until later into the season when Scottish Rugby can be confident that the 65% target can be reached.
Obviously nothing can be taken for granted these days but the return of Saturday club rugby is on the horizon.
