Scottish EDGE Awards finalists Raptor have been confirmed as the lead sponsor for the new GHA Raptor Scrum Academy.

Raptor, who make bespoke training equipment, have supplied the new Scrum Academy with customised single-man and team scrummaging sleds as part of their sponsorship deal.

Raptor Managing Director, Donald McPhee, said ‘We are delighted to be part of the new Scrum Academy at GHA and hope to make it a long term relationship to promote a culture of growth and professionalism.’

The GHA Raptor Scrum Academy, headed up by Ian MacGregor, is the first of its kind in Scotland and aims to develop the next generation of front row players for the club, Glasgow and Scotland. GHA already has a history of producing international class front row players, John Welsh and Euan Murray both played at the club, and it is hoped the Scrum Academy will help maintain that tradition.

Director of Youth Rugby, Paul Tyler, said ‘the Scrum Academy is a vital part of what we are trying to achieve as a club. Alongside our Youth Academy the aim is to provide all of our athletes an opportunity to reach their full potential as players. The partnership with Raptor and the equipment they have supplied us with is key to this unique venture being a success.’
