GHA RFC is extremely saddened to learn of the sudden passing of our Primary 7 Mini Coach Russell Whittington on Sunday.
Russell volunteered to be a coach for the GHA mini group in 2017, and has led the coaching of the 2013 group since Primary 1.
Russell was a kind, compassionate coach and always put the children’s enjoyment of playing the game first.
Russell was a good friend to many in the mini group and across the club, where he always helped out at all club events whether it was the family day, clean up days, beer festival etc he always had time to support GHA.
Russell loved his Rugby League team Wigan Warriors and also loved his live music following many bands. Russell was also a member of Giffnock North Running club, running many Marathons, and recently the ran the London Marathon this year below 3 hours!
Russell will be sorely missed by all who had the great pleasure in knowing him.
The club would like to extend its sincere condolences to Russell’s wife Maureen, his son Finlay and his wider family at this very difficult time.
