It is with much excitement that we are able to finally reveal our plans for a state-of-the-art 3G all weather pitch at Braidholm. If all goes well with our lodged funding applications then we intend to have it developed on our second XV pitch by the end of next Summer.
- World Rugby and FIFA compliant
- Available for use up to 80 hours per week
- Fully floodlit for training and playing use
- Build programme May August 2016 – Grant applications in progress
- Planning application in progress
- Implementation decision date January 2016
This pitch will not only accept all the training requirements of all sections at GHA but will also be suitable for League and Cup games. Both during the day or under floodlights and in almost any weather. Significant use of the pitch by community clubs and schools is expected, bringing vital revenue to the club. We already have interest from schools, clubs and a youth soccer centre and we anticipate that the rental income will help both to stabilise club finances as well as ensure that the facility is maintained to the highest standards.
This will be a World Rugby and FIFA compliant fully floodlit artificial grass pitch providing a truly world class training and playing facility. No more relocating to other facilities because our pitches are flooded or cut-up! No more cancellations because of frost or heavy rain! No more poor training sessions due to inadequate floodlighting!
How you can help
Local residents have every right to consider whether this development will affect their amenity and they have been able to examine the planning application which we have submitted to East Renfrewshire Council. Regrettably, a large number have submitted objections on the grounds of loss of amenity, noise, lighting spill and intensification of use. The club committee will meet the residents at a local forum meeting on 17th November and attempt to reassure them as to their concerns. All of these issues have been considered by the club and its consultant advisor, Professional Sportsturf Design Limited, and your committee is confident that we can satisfy the objectors as to our intentions and use of the pitch.
The East Renfrewshire Council planning committee will meet on 2nd December to make their decision on this application and they will take into account the objectors letters. Letters or emails of support are as important as objections and we therefore ask our members individually to contact ERC to support this application number 2015/0619/TP, giving reasons why you believe this proposal should succeed.
