GHA’s preseason preparations continued with a hit out against Marr in Troon on Saturday afternoon. With a number of first team players unavailable, particularly up front, Gordon MacPherson used the game as an opportunity to blood a handful of youngsters and fringe players including several of last year’s Under 18 squad. The game was played in four 20 minute quarters and the team fronted up well for the first 60 minutes, carrying a slender lead into the last quarter before some sloppy defensive work allowed Marr to take the lead which they held onto.

Notable performances came from 17 year old winger James Couper who impressed on his debut on the left wing, whilst 18 year old scrum half Jack Plummridge looked lively when he came on in the second half.

This weekend GHA travel to Hamilton for their second preseason friendly before a final warm up against Musselburgh at Braidholm on Saturday 17th August.
