Junior Rugby

GHA is now one of the largest rugby clubs in Scotland — with not only multiple senior teams, but also a fast growing junior section (minis → U18) with around 440 youngsters actively involved in the club. Under the leadership of our Head of Youth Performance, Dameon Chaney, supported by a growing team of volunteer coaches, the youth sections are well supported in their development on and off the pitch. 

Part of this growth comes from a broadened outreach in recent years. While historically linked to Hutchesons’ Grammar and St Aloysius, GHA now recruits from a wide range of state schools too with over 80 schools represented at the Club. By merging multiple legacy clubs, GHA carries forward generations of Glasgow’s rugby tradition — former-pupil heritage and open-club community ethos. With youth, minis, seniors, veterans and social rugby, the rugby aspect of GHA provides rugby for the whole community. While our teams at GHA continue to perform at a high level in some of the top leagues in Scotland, GHA is proud to have a community-centred club culture. We are proud of our rugby achievements, but just as focused on being part of our local community offering local connection, growth, and providing rugby opportunities across Glasgow’s south side.

GHA Youth Pathways

The youth pathway at GHA provides development for our young players and nurtures them in their long term-growth. Further, the GHA Rugby Academy (established in 2012), aims to help talented youngsters reach their potential, perhaps progressing to senior squads, district selection, or even national-level representation through this pathway. 

At GHA, our priority is to provide a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone, especially our youth members. The club maintains strict safeguarding and child protection policies, underlining welfare, inclusion and respect for all children and young members during their time at Braidholm.
