Glasgow Hutchesons’ Aloysians RFC lost a good friend and committed clubman with the death of Andrew Davidson last week after a short illness. He was 54.
Andrew was former secretary of Glasgow Southern before the club amalgamated with Hutchesons’ Aloysians, but it was in the unsung role of house convener that he will be best remembered, serving the club (Southern and then GHA) for more years than many can recall.
He played his first game of rugby at the age of 52 during a club tour to the Isle of Man.
Andrew was also an enthusiastic member of the Alba Whisky Society, which meets in the GHA clubhouse at Braidholm, and he enjoyed ventures to the farther airts of the world. Only a few months ago he toured South America.
His funeral will be on Wednesday 4 March at 11am in the Linn Crematorium.
