Rory Watson made a try-scoring return for GHA, after a season on the sidelines; helping the side to a fifth placed finish at Glasgow Hawk’s 15-a-side tournament on Friday night.
The former club-captain ran in the teams first score during a 21-7 victory over Glasgow Academicals in the fifth-placed play-off at Old Anniesland. Current club-captain Niall Cassie and Ben Wright (brother of GHA’s former scrum-half Jono) grabbed the other scores, with Jim Noonan adding all three conversions.
This was a bright finish to a otherwise disappointing evening; which saw the side loose their two pool games without recording a point. Loosing first to Premiership champions Ayr 7-0 and then to GHK 3-0.
Glasgow Hawks emerged victorious in the tournament, beating Ayr 5-0 in the final.
GHA’s preparation for the new league season continues on Tuesday evening with a home match against Hillhead/Jordanhill, kicking off at 18:30.
