Saturday’s five-try, 38-11 demolition of GHA established Dundee High as main challengers to the league leaders Edinburgh Accies.

The victory, at Braidholm takes High into second place in Premiership Two, two points clear of Jed-Forest. Several aspects of the High display warmed the hearts of the travelling Mayfield support, not least the kicking performance of Cammy Ferguson, who notched six-out-of-six from five conversions and a penalty.

Martin Dunn opened the scoring for GHA with a drop goal and Dundee then had to weather constant pressure for the opening quarter but, when that came to nothing the home side had no plan B and Dundee forced the pace. Mark Jenkinson scored try number one with a swerving run from forty yards out then, after the GHA pack had been demolished just shy of the line, Ferguson took a quick tap penalty to score under the posts. The conversion brought up a 14-6 half-time scoreline.

Into the second half, High again withstood ferocious GHA attacks but remained dangerous on the break. Ross Lemon hauled down just short after a scorching run. Then Alan Brown and Neil McComb drove to the line and it was McComb who emerged with the ball and the try.

George Oommen went over for the bonus point score then Dougie Gray sent Alan Brown away and was on hand to finish the move as he barged over for try number five.
