Last Sunday the U13s, U14s, U15s & U16s brought the club over the line to claim a first Whole Club Conference title for the Midis in this the fourth season of the SRU’s conference set up. This is a terrific return for the work of all the squads. So far one team has claimed their league’s top spot, with a second squad in the slot to do likewise, and all finished in the top 4 of the overall 13-team Galant conference. Great stuff!

Against Perthshire the boys brought the club to 58 points Galant Conference title for this season by winning Galant’s Pool 2A (of 6 highest ranked clubs at the conference’s mid-season split). The boys were top in our initial conference group in the season’s first phase, qualifying us for the 2A pool – in total the Galant conference encompassed 13 clubs.
The only remaining conference fixtures are 3 rescheduled matches within Under 18s, 2 featuring GHA so we cannot be caught now.
GALANT CONFERENCE – WHOLE CLUB (All squads results make up whole club performance each week)

UNDER 16s
The Under 16s worked their side of the ‘deal’ for claiming league honours with a fine 55-21 win over Perthshire at Braidholm. However others had not read the script, and this only kept them level on wins with Currie Chieftains (who won the match points over Dumfries Saints in their game). The tie-break decision was based upon the head-to-head between the two sides, the previous week’s win meaning Currie snatched top spot on the basis of that result. A real tough outcome for the boys.

UNDER 15s
The Under 15s came up against a very good Perthshire side who were undefeated for the conference in Sunday’s game at Auldhouse – and the visitors maintained that record in a 50-0 win over the GHA squad who scrapped hard all game. (As a guide on how other sides fared, Perthshire’s winning margin for the full conference was at least 50 points in ALL of their games.) As the table shows – third place was secured.

UNDER 14s
As expected given how the U14s table stood prior to last week’s game, the Under 14s sealed top spot and their age grade league for their conference campaign with a win over Perthshire (by 47-6) up at Perth thus retaining their unbeaten record.  Congratulations on a great overall achievement by the squad.

UNDER 13s
The U13s also headed up via the M80 & A9 to complete their first season of conference rugby initiation. On the day Perthshire on their own pitch edged the game 23-13, but the boys (on what are ‘unofficial’ tables) still confirmed fourth spot in the conference.

UNDER 18s
The U18s had 2 games to play to enable them to complete their conference, rescheduled from the last 3 fixtures however this weekends game versus Dumfries has been cancelled due to the weather and thus GHA and Dumfries will share the points giving GHA enough points to be champions in their division.
