Hawick chief Jim Hay admitted his side had not only been thrashed in terms of the scoreline – but also in the passion stakes at Braidholm.
He declared: “GHA were desperate and hungry. Our tackling was dreadful and we gave them easy points after the first 20 minutes. I thought the game was pretty equal but they had four tries by the time we started to play.” The Greens didn’t know what had hit them as the Glasgow brigade rattled up five tries before the break to ensure the precious point. Niall Cassie sparked the rout with the opener in the sixth minute, the other scorers being Dameon Chaney, Jonno Wright, Rory Watson (2) and Dan Sutherland. Jim Noonan marked his 100th appearance for the club by slotting four conversions. Hawick could only respond with scores from Geoff Cross and Greg Goodfellow, with Rory Scott kicking the rest of their points.
