At the foot of the Premiership One table, GHA became favourites to accompany Gala down to Division Two after squandering the 75th-minute lead they held over Currie to lose 18-23 at Braidholm.
Currie, who levered themselves out of the relegation zone with the victory, seized the day with an equalising penalty by Michael Ker with two minutes left and a try by Andy Slight after four minutes of injury time.
GHA’s troubles deepened as Watsonians and Hawick, the two other sides in the relegation frame, grabbed unlikely lifelines with away wins over Aberdeen Grammar and Boroughmuir respectively.
