Once again the mighty Braidholm Golfing Society roadshow rolled out for its Summer outing, this time on Sunday 8th July to Muckhart Golf Cub in Clackmannanshire, near Dollar. This Club has not only a fantastic location, it also boasts three 9-hole courses grouped around a Clubhouse and pro shop offering fantastic facilities for both members and visitors alike.
These facilities, combined with the very hospitable members, catering and bar staff and golf professionals ensure that the club is always busy and this was evident on the day of our visit. With the phenomenal weather recently, the course was very dry underfoot providing excellent, challenging conditions though with well-watered greens.
Some of the outing covered the full 27 holes, two teams of four playing a “Texas Scramble” in the morning over the Naemoor course with the victorious team of Brian Tracey, Ian Robin, Alan Thomson and Gordon Nicholl (level par) winning by 2 strokes over Keith Jones, Pat Kerr, Ken McKenzie and Alan Hill (2 over par). Great fun! Great banter!
After the customary refreshments, it was down to the serious business of the 18 hole stableford competition which, coupled with the hot conditions and challenging course, caused some casualties.
Congratulations go to Ken McKenzie on his first tour win, 2nd place goes to Alan Hill and 3rd goes to Alan Thomson
(full results and new SOCIETY handicaps published below)
Captain Zander McIlwham said in his closing remarks “Many thanks go to Muckhart Golf Club for their hospitality, Alan Thomson for once again organising the outing,
