MARTIN HILLEY (21 Jul 1953 – 15 Dec 2017)

It is with great sadness that GHA report that Martin Hilley, long time member, volunteer and fundraiser at the club, has passed away. Martin had been diagnosed with terminal cancer during the summer and fought courageously with typical fortitude and in good humour, even managing a few trips to the club with his family to support the 1st XV when he could this season. The club would like to extend it’s condolences to his wife Geraldine and his five children – Jenny, Alan, Patrick, Anna and Eve.

Martin got involved with the club through his children who played for the junior section and, in Patrick’s case, went on to represent the 1st XV. He was a kenspeckle figure at the club for many years and many will remember his tireless efforts in running the match-day “Find the Joker” raffle which helped raise significant funds for the club. When not working or at the club, he could usually be found pursuing his other passions – playing Golf or supporting his beloved Glasgow Celtic.

He was a much loved figure by members young and old and will be dearly missed.

Funeral arrangements will be posted once confirmed.
