We would like to wish all GHA players, members, supporters and their families a happy and prosperous 2013!
2012 marked the 10th anniversary of the formation of GHA, a year which has seen great successes for the club. Look out for our 10th anniversary Ball in May!
2012 also marked the 75th anniversary of the formation of Clarkston RFC, one of our 3 founder clubs, and 2013 will mark the 90th anniversary of Hutchesons’ Grammar School FP, the oldest of our founder clubs.
Among our successes, our 1st XV finished 2nd in Premier 3 and won the Glasgow City 7s, defeating professional outfits the Glasgow Warriors and Samurai Scottish along the way. Our U16s played at Murrayfield in the National Bowl Final where they lost narrowly to Boroughmuir. Jon Welsh became our first former player since the amalgamation to win an International Cap and another, James Eddie, has been in great form for the Glasgow Warriors and we hope that he can emulate Jon’s achievement in 2013.
We have also made great strides in strengthening our Junior section with the appointment of Paul Tyler as our Director of Youth Rugby and the establishment of the GHA Rugby Academy.
We would like to thank all of the volunteers who have contributed over the past 12 months, your time and efforts are much appreciated and without your support we would cease to exist. We had another bumper crowd at the GHA Fireworks Night and we enjoyed a glorious day of sunshine at the 3rd Braidholm 7s.
Unfortunately, we were saddened to lose several members in 2012 who left an indelible mark on our club, we wish their families our continued support. May they all rest in peace.
In 2013 we hope to build on the successes of 2012 as we strive to improve our performance both on and off the field.
Best wishes to all.
