GHA continued their great escape act by holding Melrose to a 16-16 draw at Braidholm.
The Borderers had looked on course for victory until the 68th minute when Kieran Cooney was yellow-carded in the move that led to home star Graham Harkness snapping up a try, which was unconverted. Calum Forrester also went over for GHA, while Martin Dunn marked his 100th appearance for the club by banging over two penalties which proved crucial.
Former Borders pro hooker Wayne Mitchell gave Melrose the ideal start with a try in the fifth minute, but the additional two points went a-begging. Their other counter came from Jordan Macey, which was again unconverted but Scott Wight weighed in with two penalties.
